Caleb D. McMahan, Ph.D.

 
 

I am broadly interested in the evolution and natural history of fishes, particularly those in the Neotropics of Mexico, Central and South America.

I also lead the Collection of Fishes at the Field Museum, overseeing curation, care, and use of some 2,000,000 specimens from around the world.

Postdoctoral Researchers

Sophie Picq, Ph.D.

Sophie is co-mentored with Dr. Lesley de Souza and is using eDNA to study Neotropical fishes.

Diego Elías, Ph.D.

Diego is studying drivers of ecological diversification in a radiation of Neotropical cichlids.

Alex is a Masters candidate at DePaul University co-advised with Dr. Jason Bystriansky, studying salinity physiology in Green Swordtails.

César Fuentes Montejo

César is a Ph.D. student at University of Illinois Chicago, co-advised with Dr. Miquel Gonzalez-Meler, and studying the ecology of Central American fishes.

Yibril Massip

Yibril is a Ph.D. student at Universidad de Ciencias y Artes de Chiapas and co-advised with Dr. Wilfredo Matamoros. Yibril is studying biogeography of freshwater and marine fishes in the Greater Antilles.

Noel Jones

Noel is a M.S. candidate at St. Cloud State University and co-advised with Dr. Matthew Davis. Noel is studying phylogeography of Three-barbeled Catfishes in Middle America.
